Customer Login Portal
The customer login portal allows you to use additional management tools to
help administrate your server. It allows you to view all the servers you
currently have with Colostore and view the current status of your servers.
The features available to help manage your servers are: The ping tool which
allows you test the internal network performance without Internet
interference and to check if the server is responsive to the network. The
MRTG graph button will show the bandwidth usage of the server and a graph of
bandwidth usage up to a years time. It also displays the amount of bandwidth
in terms of bandwidth transfer as well as the 95% percentile as well. The
Remote Reboot button gives the system administrator the ability to power
cycle their server in the event the server becomes unresponsive, choosing
this option will cause the power connection to the server to be switched off
for a period of 3 seconds and then turned on, it should be noted that using
this method of rebooting a server requires that a server be programmed in
the BIOS to turn on when power is available. The Reverse DNS tool at the
bottom allows the system administrator to set the reverse DNS of the IP
addresses they have been given by Colostore. The administrator only needs to
select the IP address they wish to update the reverse DNS on and type in the
value he/she wants it changed to. The DNS system will update every hour and
the settings will then become active.
Additional tools can be found on the page include: The traceroute tool which
will give a system administrator a network trace from inside Colostores
network to any other IP address on the network. This may be helpful to
determine the reverse path of a connection considering many times the path
to a site is not the same in the reverse direction. The whois tool simply
does a lookup with out DNS server and give the whois information on a domain
name, which can be useful in debugging DNS and determining the order of DNS
resolution. The nslookup tool give a system administrator access to
Colostores DNS server to determine what IP address a DNS name resolves to,
in addition a request can be made to check other records other then A
records such as MX and NS records.
